Publication guidelines
Submission requirements and protocols
  1. 1. Manuscript requirements and deadlines
    1. 1) Neither manuscripts nor their authors must satisfy any special requirement to be eligible for submission. We do ask, however, that all manuscripts be original works and unpublished.
    2. 2) There is no particular period in which manuscripts must be submitted to JIET. The editorial board accepts candidates for publication on an ad libitum basis.
  2. 2. Submission process and required documents
    1. 1) The manuscript should follow scholarly writing conventions. All manuscripts must be submitted to journal@kiet.re.kr as the first attachment enclosed.
    2. 2) All contributors must also fill out a submission form. The form may be downloaded on the submission page. Contributors are to print the form, fill it out, scan it, and attach a PDF image to the submission e-mail.
    3. 3) If the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be asked to sign an agreement granting production copyrights to KIET. This step is a requirement for publication.
    4. 4) Any submission failing to meet any of the above requirements will not be considered for publication in JIET.
Peer review
  1. 1. Criteria to be judged in peer review Reviewers shall take the following into consideration when reviewing a manuscript submitted for publication.

    2. 2) The appropriateness of the research methodology employed with regards to the the matter under investigation
    3. 3) The validity of the the matter being investigated as a research subject

    6. 6) An overall assessment of the work's quality
  2. 2. The peer review process
    1. 1) Reviewers are to assign one of four grades (A, B, C, or D) to manuscripts that reflect an overall assessment and recommendation. A grade of 'A' reflects a recommendation that the manuscript be accepted for publication without the need for major revisions. A grade of 'B' reflects a recommendation that the manuscript be revised before publication. A grade of 'C' reflects a recommendation that the manuscript both be revised and undergo the peer review process again. A grade of 'D' reflects a recommendation that the manuscript be rejected.
    2. 2) If both reviewers assign a grade of 'B,' the following procedure shall be followed to complete the peer review process.
    3. 3) The reviewers are to submit comments and suggestions to the author of the contribution, where they may ask for clarification and/or recommend revisions to the work. The author is to resubmit the manuscript having taken the reviewers' comments into consideration. The Associate Editors and Chief Editors of the JIET Editorial Board assigned to the manuscript are to review the revised work and determine whether or not to accept the document for publication. Both the Associate Editor and Chief Editor that conducted the second-level review of the manuscript are to make their final decision known to the author of the contribution, and in the event that the revised manuscript is rejected, are to provide an argument to the author explaining why the manuscript was rejected for publication.
