Research Reports
As untact economy sweeps across a wide swathe of different sectors of economies, digital technologies including AI, big data analytics, and VRㆍAR have steeped into all sectors of industries, with every phase of their value chains being digitalized in some sense. Most notable is that those digital technologies have begun to play a leading role in shaping other industries, not only ICT industries. Now, such digital technologies are geared to enhancing each sector’s efficiencies and its competitveness in the era of untact economy, and new products and business models that have grafted new techonologies onto existing domains have started to spring up.
As data are being archived on real-time, it will be the capability to distill information from big data that will enable to set the pace in this hyper-connected society. What we are undergoing is pretty much pictured in the half-a-century-old Peter Drucker’s saying that it will be ‘knowledge’ that will govern future societies, not the other economic resources such as land, labor, or capitals.
Our study is built on such backgrounds. We set out by mulling over such societal changes, to dissect how different industries have incorporated digital transformations and what the implications of digital transformation will be. Built upon the analysis, we further seek out strategies that will help ICT and non-ICT industries alike to be better poised for the new structural change.
In the search of well-equipped industrial strategies, we carry out market research and empirical analysis to gauge the readiness and progress of digital transformation across different industries, with domestic and overseas firms combined. As an attempt to look out for more functional policies, we go over digital transformation policies of major IT-advanced countries and, in concluding remarks, we list out our well-thought-out policy recommendations that touch on every realm of digital transformation process.
Authors believe in that digital transformation will set the stage for more constructive future and we are in the hope that our study will provide more on-sight insights to researchers and business people on the front line.
